The MHA program at the University of South Carolina. continues to grow and impact the healthcare industry. During the last May commencement, 24 new MHA graduates received their diplomas. Below are some highlights from the past academic year:

  • As a testament to the quality of students we graduate, Ms. Katie Babcock was awarded the prestigious Jeffrey Keith Mattison Outstanding Student Achievement Award for the Arnold School of Public Health. This award is akin to the best graduating student for the school.
  • We are proud to say that within three months, 94% of our new MHA graduates have secured jobs in the healthcare industry either in fulltime positions or as fellows in prestigious fellowships. We have fellows at the Mayo Clinic, Bon Secours Health System Inc. (SC and VA) and Lexington Medical Center, SC.
  • Today, we have 15 rising second year students getting ready for their final year, preparing for residency projects and planning for life after graduate school. As part of this process, they will compete in the prestigious NAHSE and UAB case competitions in the coming months.
  • The program continues to work hard in placing current students in health services related graduate assistantships to ensure students learn experientially while working during their time at the University of South Carolina. This continues to be a great draw for prospective students leading to over 105 applications for the current school year.
  • In June 2016, we hosted and completed an orientation for our incoming MHA class which consists of 22 students, two of whom are Fulbright scholars from overseas.
  • We have an active MHA advisory board which includes alumni, members from the executive suite spanning across several health services areas such as hospitals, government, health insurance, ambulatory care to advise and guide the MHA program on curriculum and program issues.
