2018 Annual Meeting

Thanks to the over 130 individuals who submitted their proposals for a session or poster at the 2018 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.  The Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) has reviewed the proposals through a process of blind review and all submitters have been notified of the results.  Congratulations to the AMPC for putting together a great program.

In addition to a robust education program, the Committee has put together some exciting opportunities before and after the Meeting.

Before the Meeting: Pennsylvania Hospital Site Visit

In keeping with this year’s theme of Looking Back to Look Forward, we are pleased to offer a site visit that includes both a historical and modern tour of Pennsylvania Hospital. Come learn about the rich history of the facility, as well as how it continues to evolve throughout history to remain one of the finest facilities in the region. Get a unique perspective on how the nation's first hospital, which was founded in 1751 by a group of public-spirited citizens lead by Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond, has adhered to a philosophy of caring to remain at the forefront of innovating patient care, treatment techniques, and medical research through its third century.

Before the Meeting:  Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies

Join your colleagues us on Tuesday, June 12 at 7:05PM Et at Citizens Bank Park to cheer on the hometown Phillies as they take on the Colorado Rockies. Tickets are limited and will be available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis, so book your seats early when registration opens.

After the Meeting: Pedicycle Tour

Join colleagues Friday evening for a two hour “History Square” or “History and Beer Adventure” pedicycle tour. Riders will leisurely pedal 15-person open-air “touring bikes” around Philadelphia, learning about the history of the city. See some of the most historically significant U.S. sites that were home to many of the visionaries that crafted the model for modern-day democracy throughout the country.

The “History Square” tour features iconic places such as Independence Hall, where the founding fathers debated and adopted the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. This guided tour will provide you with the history surrounding the various areas of the city and is highlighted with various opportunities to get out and explore during the ride.

The “History and Beer Adventure” tour features a guided tour of the city, with stops at historical pubs to grab a refresher. The tour will not only include various unique stories about the history of Philadelphia, but will also provide some of the unique history around taverns, pubs, and speakeasies in the city.

Registration for the 2018 Annual Meeting will open shortly. We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia where we'll celebrate the 70th anniversary of AUPHA.
