Hefei Wen PhD, Named Recipient of the 2018 John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators

Washington, DC, May 4, 2018 – The 2018 John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators Selection Committee is pleased to announce the selection Hefei Wen, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management & Policy at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. Dr. Wen will be presented with the Prize at the AUPHA Annual Meeting this June in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Wen was nominated by Tyrone F. Borders PhD, of the University of Kentucky, but her qualifications were clear to the committee at large. Dr. Wen pursued her undergraduate degree at Peking University, after which she went on to earn her PhD in Health Services Research and Health Policy at Emory University. After finishing her education, she went on to become an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky. She has many impressive publications where she discusses her research, mostly focusing on the issue of opioids. Dr. Wen is also a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Public Health Society.

Nominations for the 2019 Thompson Prize will be solicited in the fall and winter for submissions by early 2019. The Prize recognizes young faculty from an AUPHA Full Member Program based on their contributions to the research literature in the field of health services.  Their work may be in any of the several fields or disciplines contributing to knowledge in health services. For more information, please visit the AUPHA website.
