Bio

My full –time position is Health Sciences Coordinator and Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where I direct the undergraduate program in health care administration.

I come to AUPHA with a background in the military, health care, industry, and higher education. The Army was my first career; four years active duty and eight years in the reserves. During that time I earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. I practiced family dentistry for 13 years. During that time, I was also clinic director for a program providing care at eight dental clinics in Dallas, Texas. These clinics served the indigent, the elderly, AIDS patients, and low income families. Following that I taught at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, for nine years training medical office managers, coders, transcriptionists, and allied health students. Additionally I branched out into corporate training with a large teleservices company for one year. In the area of online education, I am an adjunct assistant professor and course manager with the University of Maryland University College, Graduate Program in Business and Technology, Health Care Administration track, as well as an instructor with Kaplan University, Undergraduate Program in Public Health. Immediately prior to joining Texas A&M Corpus Christi, my responsibilities included curriculum development and outreach for the National Response and Rescue Training Center, Texas A&M University System, working with public health and higher education clients in emergency preparedness and violence prevention.
