Dr. Shen is Professor of health economics and policy in Department of Health Care Administration and Policy at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is Associate Dean of School of Community Health Sciences. He teaches the US health care system, health economics, research methods, and management of health information systems. His research has covered outcomes and quality of care, patient safety, health care disparities, health services research including hospital behaviors and nursing care, electronic health record (EHR), and Chinese healthcare system and policy. He has received grants awarded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, National Institute of Health, National Council of State Boards of Nursing, and Healthcare Consortium of Illinois. Dr. Shen has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and is an editorial board member of Ethnicity & Disease. He received his Ph.D. in Health Services Organization and Research from Virginia Commonwealth University, Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Nanjing University. He is also a visiting professor at Fudan University in Shanghai and an adjunct professor at Peking University in Beijing, China.
