Bio

Dr. Smith is an associate professor for National University and teaches biostatistics, epidemiology, public health informatics, and health informatics. He is the program lead for the Associates Degree in Health Informatics and the newly designed and approved MS in Health and Life Science Analytics within the School of Health and Human Services at National University. He is also the Director for the National University Health Science Research Center (http://ohrc.nu.edu/). Dr. Smith has 15+ years of experience in health research and has led large longitudinal studies, infant health registries, and medical health outcomes research. Previously, Dr. Smith served as the Department Head of Deployment Health Research at the Naval Health Research Center where he lead a multi-disciplinary team of more than 35 research professionals in large strategic studies of military occupational and reproductive health. Dr. Smith holds an adjunct Assistant Professor (non-salaried) position with University of California San Diego, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, has been a recognized leader in data analytics and currently serves as Chair for Statistics and Data Analysis at SAS Global Forum, has 250+ scientific abstract presentations, and has 110+ peer-reviewed scientific journal publications.
