The Northcentral University (NCU) Chapter of Upsilon Phi Delta held its inaugural induction ceremony Friday, August 3, 2018 at NCU’s Annual Faculty Symposium and Graduation in Phoenix, Arizona. Fourteen were inducted. Inductees included team members from the Master in Health Administration (MHA) program, the School of Health Sciences Professional Advisory Council, NCU administration, NCU Board of Trustees, and other key leaders who helped to support the development of the MHA program.
The ceremony began with the founding dean of the School of Health Sciences, Dr. Laurie L. Shanderson, expressing gratitude to all who had helped establish the MHA program. Dr. Wittney Jones, MHA Program Director, spoke about excellence, people, and leadership. Inductees were then invited to come forward one at a time to light their candle. MHA team members were given white candles. Healthcare professionals and honorary inductees were given cobalt blue candles. In the future, students and alumni from the MHA program will be given crimson candles. Inductees then signed their names in the chapter book and received a white rose tied with a cobalt blue ribbon. They were also presented with a membership certificate, society pin, and honor cords. A reception was held immediately afterwards for all NCU honor society inductees.

A special thank you and recognition was given to Howard “Buster” Jones, father of Dr. Jones, for handcrafting the candle holders used during the induction ceremony. Dr. Jones accepted a plaque acknowledging her father’s contributions. NCU is proud to have added UPD to their list of honor societies and we look forward to growing our membership.
