Michael Rozier, S.J., Ph.D., is an assistant professor of health management and policy in the College for Public Health and Social Justice at Saint Louis University. His new study about the decision-making process for patients considering bariatric surgery was recently published in the journal JAMA Surgery.
Patient Preferences for Bariatric Surgery: Findings From a Survey Using Discrete Choice Experiment Methodology,” was authored by Dr. Rozier while he studied health care policy at the University of Michigan. Study results show that cost and how much weight one can lose matter more to patients considering weight-loss surgery than recovery time or the risk of complications.
