The 14th Annual UAB Health Administration Case Competition topic asked the teams to identify methodologies that the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) could use to measure access to care for its beneficiaries. On February 27-28, forty (40) schools, representing 26 states from across the country, presented their solutions to a national panel of judges. The University of Southern California won this year's competition. Finishing second was University of Michigan and placing third was University of Minnesota. While the teams and faculty coaches were in Birmingham, they heard words of wisdom from Dr. Dan Gentry, newly appointed President/CEO of AUPHA along with Dr. Anthony Stanowski, President/CEO of CAHME. In addition, Dr. Susan Kirsh, Acting Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Access to Care, delivered the L.R. (Rush) Jordan Distinguished Lecture and shared her vision as to where the VHA is headed with identifying the methodologies to measure access. We look forward to hosting the 15th UAB Health Administration Case Competition on February 17-19, 2021 in Birmingham.
