B.S. in Healthcare Administration
Loyola’s undergraduate program is undergoing a transition in program leadership. Long-standing Department Chair and Program Director, Dr. MaryMargaret Sharp-Pucci has taken on a new role as founding Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. Dr. Pucci will focus energies on strategic initiatives in new programming, partnerships and innovation for the Parkinson School, including programs in healthcare administration. Loyola welcomes incoming Program Director for the undergraduate program, Dr. Maggie Ozan-Rafferty, RN, MHA, MBA, DHA. Dr. Rafferty will assume her new responsibilities in Fall 2021.
Masters of Healthcare Administration
Loyola University Chicago Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health will launch its first Masters of Healthcare Administration (MHA) in Fall 2021. The new degree offers aspiring health care administrators an accessible part-time, online program. Students will build critical skills in a cohort model which includes one on-campus immersion session each semester.
“Our goal is to facilitate a connection between the classroom and the world of practice in order to offer students the opportunity to apply the new skills and competencies they are developing” describes Dr. John Brady, DHA, FACHE, inaugural director of Loyola’s MHA.
Loyola’s MHA program will balance the healthcare industry’s growing emphasis on data analytics with the need to prioritize health equity and social justice strategies. We will prepare graduates for leadership roles in building high-reliability organizations, fostering strong health outcomes, and advancing healthy communities. Students may strengthen their career focus by choosing one of three specialty tracks: Business Data Analytics, Community Engagement and Partnership, and Post-Acute Care.
Dr. Brady shares “the program will play a key role in preparing the next generation of healthcare leaders by fostering systems thinking, critical analysis, and intellectual curiosity”. With an emphasis on developing the competencies required for a changing healthcare environment, three specialty tracks from which to choose, and a part-time online cohort model, Loyola’s new MHA is positioned to exceed enrollment projections for the coming fall.
