AUPHA’s 2019 Graduate Program and Practitioner Workshop was held in a very chilly Chicago on March 5. Fifty-eight people attended the Workshop that focused on teaching and assessing professional, leadership skills. The program kicked off with the joint ACHE/AUPHA Joint Breakfast Session featuring David Pate, MD, JD, FACP, FACHE, President of St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho. Two panel presentations followed; the first with AUPHA members focusing on the tools and techniques for teaching and assessing leadership skills with the second consisting of a panel of ACHE Healthcare Executives. Breakout sessions featuring AUPHA members were also held.
A special thanks to the Graduate Program Committee, chaired by Tracy Farnsworth, EdD, for developing this program. Evaluations received post-conference rated this the highest of the past three Graduate Workshops. A follow up session on professional leadership skills will be held at the 2019 Annual Meeting in New Orleans on Thursday, June 13th, 9:30-10:30am.
