Bio

Dr. Vanessa B. Crowther teaches applied research methods in health services for the Division of Health Care Management, School of Allied Health Sciences at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). Dr. Crowther holds a Doctor of Public Health from FAMU; a Master of Public Health degree from City University of New York, Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Nutrition Sciences from City University of New York, Brooklyn College. Among her research interests are: the utilization of public health genomic technologies as new opportunities for disease prevention and treatment particularly Lynch syndrome-related colorectal cancer, health disparities and health equity, clinical/community partnerships for chronic disease management and health promotion. She has committed several hours to community service in the form of workshops and train-the-trainer sessions for health improvement. Dr. Crowther’s 30 years of public health management experience include health program planning, implementation and evaluation, grant-writing, contract management, budgeting, quality assurance and strategic planning. She has successfully written and received grant funding. She holds professional memberships in the American Public Health Association and other organizations.
