Bio

Chair, Department of Health Services Administration, University of Alabama Birmingham School of Health Professions.

Professor Banaszak-Holl is the LR Jordan Chair in Health Services Administration; she has been at UAB since September, 2022. She researches how we support seniors through health transitions and during stressful move to long-term care.  Her research also focuses on improvements in service delivery, largely for long-term and transitional care, and considers implementation issues arising with complex strategic changes in healthcare. Prior to UAB, she was a Professor in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Course Co-Coordinator for the Masters of Health Management and Health Administration at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She has been faculty in the Schools of Public Health, Medicine, and Arts and Science at the University of Michigan and in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Greenwich. Her more than 75 peer-review publications have appeared in leading health services research, gerontology, and quality journals, including BMJ Quality and Safety, Health Services Research, Implementation Science, Medical Care, Medical Care Research and Review, Health Care Management Review, Health Affairs, and Health Education and Behavior. She is a Fellow in the Gerontological Society of America and sits on the editorial board for Quality Management in Health Care. Today, her research looks to improve timely access to services for those with dementia, to evaluate how families feel about the quality of care at the end of life, and to develop approaches for managing workforce shortages and employee training in patient-centered care.
