Bio

Ken currently serves as the associate dean and professor of the Dumke College of Health Professions at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He holds a doctorate in health education and has primarily taught in the areas of health care administration and population health. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has some post-doctorate training in leadership, management, and emotional intelligence. He joined the faculty of Weber State University in 1998. Prior to his appointment at Weber State, Ken worked for 15 years in health care, holding positions in hospital and clinic administration and marketing.

Ken serves as a member of the Healthy People Curriculum Task Force, in Washington, D.C., founded by Association for Prevention Teaching and Research, in order to fulfill Healthy People 2010 Objective 1.7: "Increase the proportion of schools of medicine, schools of nursing and health professional training schools whose basic curriculum for health care providers includes the core competencies in health promotion and disease prevention." The Task Force is a collaborative effort of eight member clinical health professional education associations: allied health, allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine, nursing, nurse practitioners, pharmacy, dentistry, and physician assistants.

Ken is the immediate past-chair of the board of AUPHA. He has served as the chair of the Innovative Teaching Forum, co-chaired the planning committee of the first Undergraduate Planning Workshop, chair and participated in a number of undergraduate program reviews, and served on the planning committee of a not-so-recent AUPHA annual meeting. He has also been a fellow of CAHME.

Local to Utah, Ken serves on the boards of both Community Nursing Services (CNS), a provider of home health, hospice, and other long-term health care; and the James Madison Elementary Health Center, serving the under-insured population of Weber County. He also serves on the Weber-Morgan Board of Health.

Ken has published articles and presented at a variety of regional, national, and international conferences on topics dealing with organizational behavior, emotional intelligence, employee wellness and retention.
