Call for Nominations - AUPHA Board of Directors

The Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) Leadership Development Committee, chaired by Diane Howard, PhD, MPH, is soliciting nominations for individuals to serve on the AUPHA Board of Directors.

2017-2018 Board Membership and Upcoming Changes:
Current AUPHA board members are: Keith Benson (Chair), Mark Diana (Chair -Elect), Leigh Cellucci (Treasurer), Brenda Freshman (Secretary), Diane Howard (Immediate Past Chair), Nancy Borkowski, Rosemary Caron, Rupert Evans, Tracy Farnsworth, Ray Grady, Brooke Hollis, Michael Meacham, Carol Molinari, Jessie Tucker, Cindy Watts, Suzanne Wood, and Gerald Glandon.
Brenda Freshman, Ray Grady and Diane Howard are completing their second terms.

Call for Nominations
We are seeking nominations for three (3) seats open on the Board of Directors. In order to be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, nominees must be either:
  • Full-Time Faculty of an AUPHA Full Member Program (included in program membership); or
  • Full-Time healthcare management practitioner or consultant; or
  • Recently retired healthcare management practitioner or consultant (Retired practitioners now teaching in non-accredited/non-certified member programs are not eligible)

As per the Board direction, the Leadership Development Committee seeks membership that broadly reflects characteristics of our membership. In 2018, it specifically seeks nominees with one or more of the following attributes:
  • Experience working with/for academic programs outside of the United States
  • Experience delivering education in an online format
  • Success establishing relationships between academe and practice
  • Experience as a CAHME site visitor or observer and/or as an AUPHA Undergraduate Program Reviewer
  • Current or former healthcare managers from settings outside of acute care that are graduates of AUPHA-member programs
  • Experience as a Faculty Forum leader
  • A positive record of service to AUPHA and/or a unique perspective and history not currently represented but needed on the Board (as listed above)
  • Evidence of active participation in and engagement with the AUPHA Network, as evidenced by engagement scores generated by the system
A colleague must nominate individuals for a Board position. All nominations should include:
  • Name
  • Title
  • University
  • Current CV
  • A description of prior or current involvement with AUPHA, CAHME or ACEHSA
  • A description of how you feel the nominee can contribute to the AUPHA Board in one or more of the specific areas referenced above.
Please submit all nominations via the online 2018 AUPHA Board of Directors Nomination Form.

Please ensure that the individual is willing to serve and is aware of the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of an AUPHA Board Member, as detailed in the AUPHA Board Member Job Description prior to nominating them. Nominees must also be available to attend a New Board Member Orientation on the afternoon of June 11, 2018 and observe the June AUPHA Board Meeting on June 12, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA.

Nominations must reach AUPHA no later than February 1, 2018. The membership will vote on the Board Slate prior to the AUPHA Annual Business Meeting held during the Annual Meeting June 14, 2018, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
