Following six years of leadership, Dr. Julia Costich will be stepping down as Chair of the Health
Services Management Department and Director of the MHA degree program this
spring. Succession planning was initiated and a national search is open for a
new chair of the Department. Dr. Jim Holsinger assumed the role of interim
Department Chair on February 1 and Dr. Martha Riddell will assume the MHA Director
role on April 1.
Dr. Howard Koh, assistant
secretary for health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
addressed “The Future of the U.S. Healthcare Systems” at a seminar hosted by
the College of Public Health and UK HealthCare in January.
Quint Studer spoke to a packed
audience of MHA students and UK HealthCare executives during the December
Executive Seminar Series session on “Straight A Leadership”. David Lemoine, President and CEO of the
Catholic Healthcare Audit Network will present the March seminar and Thomas
Dolan, President and CEO of the ACHE, is the April speaker.

MHA graduate, received the Best Student Presenter award for a presentation
entitled “Redefining the hospital discharge: the Lean initiative” at the
Networking for Education in Healthcare Conference 2011 (NET2011) at Cambridge (England)
University, in September.
