Stevenson University Adds New Master’s Program in Healthcare Management

Stevenson University’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies has launched a Master of Science in Healthcare Management to prepare students for careers in medical and health administration.  The program—just approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission in February, will begin fall classes in August.

Led by Sharon Buchbinder, RN, PhD, Professor and Program Coordinator, the Master of Science in Healthcare Management is a 48-credit-hour program consisting of an eight-course, 24-credit core and two 24-credit areas of concentration: quality management and patient safety; and project management. The program’s curriculum will enable graduates to develop the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and management skills that today’s complex healthcare organizations require. The curriculum will address specific areas required by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management (CAHME), including health policy formulation and implementation; management and structural analysis of healthcare organizations; operations assessment and improvement; information systems management; professional ethics; and statistical, economic, financial, and market analysis and management.

Dr. Buchbinder is joined by adjunct faculty members, who are teacher practitioners, Susan P. Casciani, MSHA, MBA, FACHE, Lea Nolan, MA and Trina Armstrong, MBA, MFP.

For more information about the program and admission requirements, contact Dr. Buchbinder at 443-394-9290, or email: sbuchbinder@stevenson.edu or Angela Scagliola, Director of Recruitment and Admissions for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, at 443-352-4414, or e-mail: ascagliola@stevenson.edu.
