Cornell Sloan faculty member Professor John Cawley and colleagues reported on the results of a recent survey of health economists at the annual luncheon of the American Society of Health Economists at the 2013 Annual meeting of the Allied Social Science Association in San Diego January 4, 2013. The report included findings about health economists’ work settings and scholarly productivity as well as opinions on selected policy issues.
Also at the Annual Allied Social Science Meetings, Sloan Assistant Professor Nicolas Ziebarth presented two papers, “The Health Effects of Weather and Pollution: Implications for Climate Change” and “In Absolute or Relative Terms? How Framing Prices Affects the Consumer Price Sensitivity of Health Plan Choice.”
Recent funding at Sloan includes a $192,000 grant entitled “Market Power and Provider Consolidation in Physician Markets” from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to Sloan faculty members Assistant Professor Sam Kleiner and Professor Will White. The grant will examine patterns of physician pricing using data from FAIR Health.
