EDITOR

Journal of Health Administration Education

 

The Journal Editor is responsible for all aspects of publication associated with maintaining the Journal of the Health Administration Education as the premier Journal of its kind presenting perspectives on all levels of education in health administration, healthcare management, health sector management, and other related fields. The Editor is committed to making sure that the Journal maintains its reputation to publish the best scholarship in these areas. The Editor is responsible for the selection and substantive editing of journal contents, for four issues per year.

The Editor will report to the AUPHA Board of Directors regularly on the status of Journal submissions and will work to ensure the timely production of each Journal issue. Additionally the Editor will provide advice on marketing of the Journal.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Editor of the Journal should possess the following attributes: 

  1. Hold a faculty position at a full member program of AUPHA
  2. Have reviewed for and/or published previously in the JHAE
  3. Be willing to dedicate 10-15% time per week to this role
  4. Have (or be able to secure) support staff able to dedicate 10% time per week to supporting this role

TERM

The Editor will serve a three year term which is renewable for a second three-year term at the discretion of the AUPHA Board of Directors. The editor will be evaluated annually by the board. The term may be terminated by the Board at any time should the Editor fail to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.

RESOURCES

The Editor may request reimbursement of up to $5,000 per issue to support his/her time, the time of any support staff needed, and any supplies and out of pocket costs related to the editing of the Journal. Additional costs of producing the publication (copy editing, layout, etc) will be borne by AUPHA and managed out of the Virginia office. The Journal will be using the AllenTrack software system to manage manuscript submissions. The Editor should not have any additional costs associated with their role.
