The American College of Healthcare Executives’ (ACHE) selected Prashant Dilwali, a second year MHA student at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, as the 1st place award winner in the nationwide Richard J. Stull Essay Competition. Prashant presented his paper and received his award at the ACHE’s Annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership on March 13 in Chicago. His adviser, Ann-Michele Gundlach, attended the session and represented the program. “Prashant is the first student in our MHA Program to receive the first place award in the essay competition and we are very proud.” His paper From Acute Care to Home Care: The Evolution of Hospital Responsibility and Rationale for Increased Vertical Integration will be published in the Journal of Healthcare Management later this year.
Prashant is currently completing his 11 month residency with Alvarez and Marsal’s Healthcare division in New York City.
Shannon Frattaroli, PhD, was promoted to Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a member of the health policy, public health practice and injury prevention research communities within and outside of the Bloomberg School.
Sara Bleich, PhD, was promoted to associate professor of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Bleich’s primary research focus is on obesity. Her research aims to impact obesity prevention and control, through policy change. Her three main areas of focus include understanding the drivers of obesity, improving physician care of obese patients and developing innovative environmental strategies to reduce caloric intake.
Karen Davis, PhD, the Eugene and Mildred Lipitz Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, will receive the 2013 TRUST Award from the Health Research & Educational Trust of the American Hospital Association. The TRUST Award honors individuals who have exhibited visionary leadership in the health care field and who symbolize the trust’s mission to use research and education to improve health care quality in policy and practice.
