MHA Student Association and WSHEF Host Sold-out Event
The UW MHA Student Association and the Washington State Health Executives Forum jointly presented, “Women in Healthcare Leadership: Strategies for Success,” a panel discussion and networking event for members of the Seattle health care community on April 24.
The three panelists included, Nancy L. Fisher, RN, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) in the Seattle Regional Office; Katie Bell, MBA, MHA, Chief Operating Officer of Neighborcare Health in Seattle, WA; and Florence Chang, Executive Vice President of MultiCare Health System, in Tacoma, WA.

Summer Internship Placements
The UW MHA Program is pleased to announce 2013 summer internship placements for the first-year MHA class. Students will be working in the following health care organizations:

Students Present Capstone Project, Accept Scholarship
UW MHA students were selected to present their capstone project to the Washington State Health Executives Forum (ACHE WA Chapter) on April 30, where they also accepted scholarship money on behalf of the UW MHA Program. WSHEF hosts this annual event for the three Washington state schools with master’s programs in health administration.
The UW students’ capstone project, “Building a patient-centered provider schedule” is sponsored by the University of Washington Neighborhood Clinics.

UW Faculty members Scott R. Coplan, PMP, FHIMSS, CPHIMS, and David Masuda, MD, MS, authored, “Let Curiosity Cross the Chasm of Physician Resistance to HIT” appearing in the Journal of Health Information Management, Summer 2013 issue
