Dr. Murungi’s research focuses on Healthcare Information Systems with a special interest in social cognition and discursive analysis. He has also written and published research on the topics of IS Outsourcing Governance, IS Management Fashions, and IS Strategy.  Dr. Murungi was also the principal investigator for a Louisiana Traffic Records Coordinating Committee research initiative that examined the feasibility of establishing a crash related data sharing system between EMS providers, Hospitals, and Traffic officials.

Dr. Murungi joined Our Lady of the Lake College as an adjunct instructor in 2007 and has taught courses in Health Care Systems and Trends, Healthcare Reimbursements, Healthcare Professions, Managerial Epidemiology, and Information Systems in Healthcare.  He has also worked in the managed care field of healthcare since 1996 and has been affiliated with the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System since 2001.
