Dr. Pietro (Pete) Marghella, Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Health Services Management and Leadership, was on July 8 named by Governor Andrew Cuomo as Director of the New York State Office of Emergency Management. While at GW, Dr. Marghella has taught the highly regarded course in disaster management for healthcare organizations. In his new role, Dr. Marghella heads an office responsible for coordinating the activities of all State agencies to protect New York's communities, the State's economic well-being, and the environment from natural and man-made disasters and emergencies.
