Central Michigan University Adds Two Faculty
- Dimitrios Zikos, PhD, RN - Dimitrios Zikos, PhD recently joined the tenure-track faculty in the Health Administration Division at Central Michigan University as an assistant professor in health analytics. Dr. Zikos has a degree in Nursing as well as both a master’s degree and doctoral degree in Health Informatics specializing in health analytics from the University of Athens in Greece. His research involves computational methods (data mining, database systems, and statistical models) with an expertise in clinical and administrative informatics, clinical statistics, health delivery, and clinical care policies for decision-making. Prior to coming to CMU he was a full-time visiting professor at University of Texas-Arlington.
- Tina Lewis-Kopka, DHA, OT - Dr. Lewis-Kopka recently joined the non-tenure track faculty in the Health Administration Division at Central Michigan University as a Lecturer I. Dr. Kopka is a licensed Occupational Therapist and managed OT and Rehabilitation programs in the central Michigan area prior to earning her Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) degree from the University of Phoenix.
Masters in Health Administration Degree begins Fall 2016
Central Michigan University will be admitting its first cohort for the new Masters in Health Administration (MHA) degree fall 2016. The degree will primarily be offered online to audiences in the US and overseas as well as on the main campus in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and at selected regional campuses across the country. The MHA degree joins the existing Undergraduate major, DHA degree, and two graduate certificates in the Health Administration Division at Central Michigan University. It also joins the new MPH degree that begins fall 2016. The existing Graduate Certificate in Health Systems Leadership, a 6-course program, is also being offered as a joint academic program for College of Medicine students at the University in their third and fourth year giving the medical graduates a joint medical degree and academic preparation in management/administration.
Two Central Michigan University DHA students awarded Dissertation Awards
Charmaine Rochester, DHA and Christie Clipper, DHA were awarded the University’s Outstanding Dissertation Award for the 2015-2016 academic year. They were selected by the College of Graduate Studies from amongst doctoral students across the University for the award. Dr. Rochester’s dissertation is titled Skills, knowledge, and competencies for development and success as a healthcare chief financial officer and the perceived impact of healthcare reform. Dr. Clipper’s dissertation is titled Behavioral engagement with Pure Presence TM in patient-provider relationships: Communication and the effect on patients and providers.
