The University of Kansas will host the third annual Regional Case Competition in Kansas City on November 1. Teams from the Universities of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma will analyze a case entitled “What Should Saint Luke’s Health System’s ACA Marketplace Strategy Be?” The case asked students to develop strategies to deal with the new reality that insurers are crafting “narrow networks” that exclude some provider networks.

On Friday, October 4th, the Department of Health Policy and Management hosted “The Altered Health Insurance Landscape of 2013 & Beyond!” This was a panel on the future of health insurance moderated by Professor Robert Bonney. It featured Rick Kahle, President, KC Employee Benefits, Lockton Companies; Bob Page, President and CEO, University of Kansas Hospital; and Kevin Sparks, Group Executive of Enterprise Strategy and Chief Strategy Officer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
