Dr. Laura Erskine has been appointed as MPH Director for the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Erskine took over the reigns from Dr. Diana Hilberman who served as MPH Director for over 24 years. After a national search, Dr. Erskine emerged as an exciting choice in a highly competitive pool. She is exceedingly qualified to lead and administer our MPH program, as well as teach core masters-level courses for the Department.
Dr. Erskine holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Before her appointment at UCLA, Dr. Erskine was an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior in the College of Business at Illinois State University (2007 - 2013) and was recently promoted to a tenured faculty position. Dr. Erskine has a particular interest in how electronic communication affects team behavior and the interactions of leaders and followers in an organization. In addition to these research interests, Dr. Erskine is a student of the learning process, and has written several articles on how to improve learning and the classroom experience.
