In 2011, AUPHA and CAHME formed a taskforce to explore and develop the core domains of health information technology education that should be covered in graduate health administration education. Through grant support from HIMSS and Siemens Healthcare, USA, the taskforce, and its fourteen module developers, created the HIMSTA curriculum that can be found at: http://network.aupha.org/himsta The curriculum modules are free to download by any health administration program regardless of AUPHA membership or accreditation. The design of the HIMSTA curriculum is such that each module can be used separately in existing courses as determined by a program or all fourteen could be linked into a single new course.
A key requirement of the funding, in addition to the creation and dissemination of the modules, is the development and implementation of a Train-the-Trainer Workshop to share knowledge and experience with the teaching of the modules. Beta testers of the curriculum have shared their experience and will be part of the Train-the-Trainer Workshop on the morning of February 23, 2014, in Orlando. The Workshop will be held in Room 312B of the Orange County Convention Center from 8:00AM to 12:00Noon. There is no additional registration fee for this workshop.
