Position: Director, Membership and Accreditation Relations
Organization: Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), Rockville, MD
Reporting Relationship: The Director will report to the President & CEO
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director will be responsible for:
- Supporting the growth and maintenance of corporate membership, and for developing initiatives to interact with current and potential corporate members in order to achieve corporate member goals
- Manage CAHME program and academic relations, fostering quality improvement in program accreditation and serve as a consultative resource to CAHME constituencies
- Design and manage communications and communication vehicles including the website, social media, the CAHME Chronicle, and relationships with outside media, ensuring that information is current, accurate, and complete
Additional responsibilities include:
- Interface with corporate members, healthcare organizations and professionals as directed to ensure that they understand the accreditation process and the value of accreditation
- Collaborate with the CAHME staff in the work of the Accreditation and Standards Council and the Candidacy Committee to ensure that the accreditation and criteria development processes are conducted in accordance with CAHME Policies and Procedures, managing adverse accreditation actions by CAHME with an appropriate balance of diplomacy, collegiality and discipline
- Through initiatives with students and faculty, foster understanding and respect for CAHME’s accreditation processes and quality improvement role
- Attend conferences to develop visibility for CAHME within the healthcare leadership, employer and academic communities
- In collaboration with staff, conduct research to support corporate membership and academic programs
- Manage the “best practices” initiative to provide support and guidance to accredited programs and those seeking accreditation
- Remain current in trends in the accreditation and healthcare fields
Hiring guidelines:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Successful applicants will have graduated from a CAHME-accredited graduate program and have 3-5 years of management experience in a healthcare setting (one or two of these may have been in a healthcare management fellowship or residency). The candidate must have a deep commitment to higher education and to healthcare.
Candidates will identify with CAHME’s mission and values; will be able to maintain a strategic orientation while carrying out daily duties; will be highly collegial with members of all constituencies and prepared to work in a small office environment; will be familiar with use of IT systems; and will be attentive to detail and timelines. Candidates will also demonstrate effective communication and public speaking skills. A customer service orientation is very important. Some travel is required.
