AUPHA 2015 David A. Winston Policy Scholars Announced
AUPHA is pleased to announce the 2015 David A. Winston Policy Scholars, selected on May 28, 2015.
The objective of the Scholarship Program, funded by the David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship, is to increase the number and quality of individuals trained in healthcare policy at the state and federal level by awarding deserving health policy students financial support to further their education. The Fellowship commemorates the contributions and personal support of David A Winston who, for 20 years, played a significant role in shaping the role of health policy in America. The Program recognized student excellence, commitment, and achievement based upon the student’s record and recommendations obtained from faculty and colleagues. Students are selected who demonstrate their potential to succeed in health policy at the state or federal level upon graduation from their master’s health administration degree program. The 2-day health policy symposium, held each fall, is one feature of the Scholars’ year.

“Selecting ten Winston Scholars in 2015, from the over fifty highly qualified candidates, presented a challenge to the selection committee and AUPHA staff again this year. The demonstrated excellence by the entire pool of applicants gets better each year as students arrive with greater accomplishments. The Committee and Winston Board congratulate these deserving, committed and accomplished individuals on their achievements. If these students reflect the quality of those in the field, we have great hope for the future of healthcare,” said Gerald L. Glandon, PhD, AUPHA’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
