2011 International Conference on Human Resource Development

Taipei, Taiwan

The Graduate Institute of International Human Resource Development, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), is pleased to announce that the 2011 International Conference on Human Resource Development (IHRD) will be held in Taipei, Taiwan at NTNU from September 28-30, 2011.  The conference aims to promote the latest research findings, best practices, and theoretical developments in HRD. Any contribution which furthers this aim is most welcome. NTNU warmly invites academics and professionals working in any specialist field of HRD to contribute to the conference by papers and discussions.

Main Theme

Globalization accelerates the development of world economy and competitive environment, making the ability to successfully attract and develop to compete across borders a necessity not only to private sectors, but also to non-governmental organizations and government entities. Sustaining growth becomes an important issue which is concerned in the modern world. IHRD cares about this major issue and is pleased to invite academics and people who pay highly attention to it to join our 2011 conference and discussion. The central theme of conference is Human Resource Development for Sustainability. Human Resource Development for Sustainability issues, strategies, and practices specific to the context of globalization will be discussed.

Renowned scholars or experts are invited to give keynote speeches on the current state of Sustainability in the field. Following upon the keynote speeches, there will be paper presentations on various sub themes of this conference. We wish to provide a platform for industries, governments, and researchers to gain insights for further development in this important topic.

Call for Papers

The conference now accepts manuscript submission of original research that has not been published anywhere else. Researchers and professionals are invited to contribute papers that are related to the following sub themes:

1. Human resources for green industry and corporation social responsibility

2. Leadership and management development for sustainability

3. Training and workplace learning for sustainability

4. Human resource policy for national sustainability

5. Human resource information system (HRIS) for sustainability

6. Human resources for NGOs sustainability

7. Human resources for sustainability in developing nations

8. Other related issues

Submission Guidelines

Submit full manuscripts or extended abstracts in English. The official language for this international conference is English.

Submit a full manuscript (no more than 8,000 words, all inclusive) or an extended abstract (up to 2,000 words, all inclusive) which includes a description of the study objectives, the methodology, and the (expected) findings.

Edit manuscripts or abstracts in Microsoft Word (12 point Times New Roman font, double-spacing, and 1” margins on all sides).

Follow formatting as defined by the APA (6th Ed.). Authors should include figures and tables in-text where they are intended to appear.

To facilitate the blind review process, make sure your document does not contain any information that identifies the authors.

Review Process and Publication

No author can submit more than three conference submissions (including co-authored papers).

All submissions are reviewed on the basis of relevance, originality, significance, soundness and clarity. At least two referees review each submission under a double-blind peer-review process.

The proceedings of the International Conference on Human Resource Development is registered with the ISSN number 2072-926X issued by the ISSN International Centre, Paris, France. Accepted submission will be included in the conference\proceedings and conference program, pending:

- Acceptance of a final, camera-ready manuscript by the program committee.

- At least one author per accepted manuscript is registered for this conference.

- Authors or co-authors are available to present at anytime throughout the duration of the conference. Authors retain the copyright to their manuscripts.

Presentation Schedule

Accepted papers are presented during paper presentation sessions of the conference, which run from Wednesday, Sep 28th through Thursday, Sep 29th. Each paper presentation will be approximately fifteen minutes long. There are usually 3-4 resentations scheduled in each session.

Registration, Accommodation, Transportation, and Tours

Early bird registration fee: US $160, participant who registers before July 31, 2011. From August 1 to 31, 2011, registration will be charged the regulation rate of US $200. For students and local Taiwanese participants, the conference offers a reduced rate of US $80 (or NT $2,400) which is made available by partial government funding. Registration after the deadline will be charged a late fee of US $150(or NT $4,500).

Benefits of registered participants include an opportunity to publish accepted paper in the conference proceedings, one printed proceedings, keynote speeches, the luncheon, morning and afternoon coffee breaks, and an opportunity to meet and network with your international colleagues in a friendly environment.

Information on accommodation, transportation and tours will be provided to the authors whose papers are accepted in this conference.
