Saint Louis University School of Public Health’s Department of Health Management and Policy is now accepting Summer 2011 and Fall 2011 enrollment for the distance-learning Graduate Certificate program in Community Benefit.  This program is an excellent option for undergraduates who are completing their baccalaureate degree and are interested in pursuing a career in a not-for-profit hospital or health care organization.  It can also be used as a first step toward graduate education in public health or health administration.  Several courses will meet core requirements for students who wish to work toward an MHA or MPH in the our Department of Health Management and Policy, which is ranked as one of the top ten health management programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

The Department of Health Management and Policy successfully launched the Graduate Certificate program in Community Benefit in Fall 2010.  The courses are taken entirely through asynchronous distance-learning, and the certificate can be completed within three semesters.  Students may enter the program at the beginning of any term.  The emphasis of the curriculum is to provide a blend of theoretical and practical skills to enhance abilities for those currently working within not-for-profit hospitals and health care organizations, and to prepare those planning to enter the field.  Completing the graduate certificate in community benefit will help individuals and organizations be well-positioned as leaders in this emerging, dynamic, and important area in not for profit health care.
