Matthew Dunford awarded GLACHE Scholarship

DHA Student Elected to ACHE Board of Governors
Stephen Waldhoff, FACHE, a student in the Doctor of Health Administration Program at Central Michigan University was elected to the Board of Governors for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) beginning his term at the March 2011 Congress. Waldhoff is the chief administrative office at Mayo Clinic Health System – Albert Lea, Minnesota, a part of the Mayo Health System.
DHA Program Director Honored by ACHE Regent
Dr. Steven Berkshire, FACHE was given the ACHE Regent’s Award for 2011 for Outstanding Faculty Member. The award was presented to Dr. Berkshire by Peter Karadjoff, FACHE, the ACHE Regent for Michigan, at the June meeting of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Dr. Berkshire also recently completed a term on the Regents Advisory Council and serves on the Board of the Great Lakes Chapter of ACHE.
DHA Student Serving in Afghanistan

Col. Pangelinan is one of several DHA students serving in the military and who have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
DHA Faculty Victim of Robbery Attempt Dies
Dr. Robert Barber of Charlotte, North Carolina, who taught finance for the Doctor of Health Administration Program at Central Michigan University, was killed in an attempted robbery on Good Friday of this year in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Barber had served as an integral part of the teaching and advising at Central Michigan for several years. He touched the academic and professional lives of all the DHA students and will be missed by all. He was walking home from a local coffee shop when he was apparently assaulted by a robber who shot him during the attack. The University has named the DHA Scholarship Fund in his name. It is now known as the Dr. Robert Latimer Barber Memorial DHA Scholarship Fund.
