In April, the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) Board announced that they had established a Professorship in Health Policy for the UW MHA Program in honor of Leo Greenawalt, who served as President and CEO of WSHA for 30 years and recently retired. Greenawalt dedicated his career to health policy, bringing together health care leaders and organizations to provide greater access to health care. The Leo Greenawalt Professorship in Health Policy will support the enhancement of UW MHA Program health policy education, faculty, and curriculum. We are pleased to report that funding for the Professorship recently surpassed the $250,000 mark in gifts and pledges. This milestone fulfills the minimum required for the University of Washington to endow the Professorship.

On October 25, Affiliate Instructor Scott Coplan, MPA, gave a presentation on Project Management for Healthcare Information Technology at the Project Management Institute's North America Conference. Coplan was recently approved by the Board of the Healthcare Information Management System Society (HIMSS) for Fellow membership status.

Also in October, Assistant Professor of Law, Sallie Sanford, JD, presented “Building Model Homes in the Changing Medical Neighborhood: Early Lessons from Washington State’s Multi-Payer Medical Home Pilot” at the Seton Hall Symposium on Implementing the Affordable Care Act in South Orange, NJ.
