Fellowship and employment update
One-hundred percent of second-year Full time students have secured post-graduate fellowships or employment throughout the U.S. The Class of 2014 consists of 31 students, including two returning MHA/MBA dual degree students. If you are interested in hiring an MHA graduate next year, contact Drew Hatton at

Executive MHA Saudi Arabia Program: In May the first graduating cohort from Saudi Arabia, King Fahad Medical City, will visit Minnesota for eleven days of planned activities. The MHA program has designed a schedule of seminars, social activities, and local site visits hosted by MHA alumni at United Health Group, Mayo Clinic Rochester, CentraCare, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and Ridgeview Medical Center. The graduates will participate in the School of Public Health commencement ceremony, May 19, at Northrop Auditorium.

The Executive MHA program continues to deliver on its promise to educate professionals from all corners of the industry. Our student body represents many aspects of the healthcare industry from large integrated health systems to federally qualified healthcare centers from acute care settings to long term care.

In January the program admitted its fifth cohort—the largest to date with 38 students. They represent a diversity of perspectives that will allow for a thorough consideration of the many challenges facing healthcare and healthcare delivery. Cohort 4 also returned to campus for courses and activities.

February saw the last on-campus experience for Cohort 3. This group was especially cohesive as it graduated every student who started the program 25 months ago. Hybrid programs with an emphasis on online learning often see attrition rates as high as 25%. This group of students supported each other with an early commitment to graduate intact. In total, the program hosted 105 students in January and February at the Carlson School Executive Center.

Jean Abraham, PhD, has been named the first recipient of the Vernon E. Weckwerth Professorship in Healthcare Administration Leadership.
