Students enrolled in the Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) program at The George Washington University (GWU) received a rare opportunity to participate in a weeklong course taught by nationally renowned author and AUPHA board member Quint Studer. Recognized as the nation’s leading voice for driving excellence in health care organizations, GWU students participated in this class that focused on the themes of crafting outstanding organizational performance and their own leadership development.

“We were thrilled for the opportunity to host Quint as a visiting professor for a week, and facilitate his efforts in educating our students,” said Leonard Friedman, vice-chair and Director of the GW MHSA program. “Quint has a natural ability to tell a story and has instilled in our students a wealth of innovative thinking.”

Mr. Studer taught a four day class in which students learned and practiced a variety of principles and techniques for moving organization performance forward. He also presented each student in the course a copy of his new book, Straight A Leadership, in addition to access to resources found on the Studer Group’s website.

As part of the class, Mr. Studer provided individual mentoring to students, helped students prepare how to have successful behavior-based interviews, participated in an event sponsored by the program’s student association, and donated a large collection of educational material to the department.

Two students who participated in the class said the following:

"Learning from Mr. Studer was definitely the opportunity of a lifetime. As a seasoned healthcare executive, he provided us young careerists with some very practical tools that will be invaluable for us as future managers." -- Neema Shah - Second-year student

"Learning from Mr. Studer was an excellent experience. His course was very practical, providing great tools and techniques for us to use in the workplace. Further, Mr. Studer helped us develop professionally by sharing wisdom he has gathered through the course of his career. I am very grateful to Mr. Studer and GW for providing this opportunity." -- R. Andrew David - Second-year student
