The Board and Staff of AUPHA are always looking for more ways to enhance your membership experience inAUPHA. We have been fortunate over the years to establish partnerships withorganizations that provide funds and opportunities to our members and theirstudents. These organizations have included Abbott Labs, Baxter Inc., Ernst& Young, HCA, Triad Hospitals, and others. But no organization has shownthe breadth of commitment to AUPHA that we have seen over the past year fromthe Studer Group.
InJanuary we shared with AUPHA program member faculty an opportunity to apply forcurriculum development grants managed by AUPHA and funded by the Studer Group. AUPHA has partneredwith Studer Group to provide grants to support faculty to develop teachingguides, exercises, and exam questions tied to resources available from StuderGroup. The development of these will provide substantial material with a highlypractical and applicable focus to supplement the more theoretical foundationprovided through commonly-used text books. Up to $45,000 will be awarded ingrants of $4,500 each.
Soon program member faculty will also receive word on howaccess the wealth of partner site materials available on the Studer Groupwebsite. The Studer Group is tremendously generous with all of its materials,and much of what is on their site is available at no cost, but some of the mostproprietary material is reserved for their Partners. Partners pay tens ofthousands of dollars per year for access to these materials and consultingservices from the firm. And these materials are now available to program memberfaculty at no cost. Andof course we’ve been hard at work putting together the 2010 Leaders Conferenceand Annual Meeting. Both of these events promise to be fun and informative. Weare particularly delighted to announce a remarkable lineup of keynote speakersfor the Annual Meeting, starting with Henry Mintzberg, PhD, author of Managers, Not MBAs, followed by GeorgeHalvorsen, CEO of Kaiser and author of FixHealthcare Now!, and, if his schedule allows, Senator Ron Wyden will be ourfinal speaker for the weekend.
