Benchmarking Research

The Benchmarking for Education in Healthcare Management (BEHM) platform allows programs to identify areas of strength, reveal areas for improvement, and start the process of further strengthening the program as a whole.  BEHM enables programs to benchmark against others by  offering comparisons and reports via pre-set filters.

With the launch of the Compensation & Benefits Portal in early 2013, BEHM became a multidimensional platform containing both the Compensation & Benefits Portal and the Program Operations Portal. Learn more about each of the portals below.

Program Operations Portal

How Does the Portal Work?

The Program Operations Portal allows AUPHA member programs to enter annual program survey data, such as data on program enrollment, graduate placement, and faculty demographics. Data may then be compared to  data supplied by other programs that meet specific search criteria.  Reports can then be generated for use in presentations and publications, or as support for program improvement. The portal also permits year-over-year comparisons.

The Portal is now accepting data from academic years 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Who Has Access?

All Program Directors at AUPHA Full, Associate Candidate, and Associate Member Programs have a unique username and password which provides them access to the program's gateway page.  PDs are able to add additional users and can select the level of access each user has within the portal.

Why is the Portal Important?

The portal generates tremendous data about our programs and the field. This data is used not only by programs and AUPHA, but by outside organizations such as ACHE, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Department of Education. Aggregate data about the field will soon be made available to others at a fee.

Compensation & Benefits Portal

How Does the Portal Work?

The Compensation & Benefits Portal replaces the annual Faculty Compensation Survey and allows individual program faculty the opportunity to enter their compensation and benefits data and then compare themselves against all other faculty at AUPHA member programs.  Just like the Program Operations Portal, the Compensation & Benefits Portal allows participants to pull and download reports based on pre-set filters.

Who Has Access?

All faculty at AUPHA Full, Associate Candidate, and Associate Member Programs have a unique username and password which provides them access to their own gateway page.  If you need your login information, please contact BEHM support at benchmark@aupha.org.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if other users are be able to filter the data down enough to figure out who has entered the information?

A: The portal is set up to only show data with 7 or more participant matches.  If you select a series of filters that return less than 7 participants, you will receive an error message.

Q: How can I be assured that the information I enter is confidential and secure?

A: This is a secure platform, accessed by all faculty and administration with a unique username and password.  Your information is safe and there is not a way for any faculty member using the system to find out whose information is being filtered in comparisons and reports.  As with any online system, we cannot offer an absolute guarantee against hackers.

Q: I entered my AUPHA login information, but I am getting an error. What is wrong?

A: The login information for the BEHM Platform is different from the login information required by the AUPHA website and Network.  Individuals that have access to both portals have separate logins for each portal.
