The competencies needed to lead today’s healthcare organizations are continuously evolving. In recent years our understanding of the importance of the leaders being strong in the capacity for adaptability, innovation, and change have taken their place alongside the traditional focus of graduate programs in healthcare management. Critically considered and thoughtful integration of executives/practitioners in residence, clinical adjunct faculty and lecturers are increasingly recognized as practical methods to bridge the worlds of academia and practice in ways that can help instill these competencies in students and inspire them towards transformative leadership. This program brought together four experienced executives in residence with varied backgrounds to share experiences, best practices and respond to your questions. Through the discussions they highlighted ways to integrate clinical experience into the curriculum and start a community conversation on this important topic for the future of graduate healthcare management education.
