After the successful launch of its first course in June, AUPHA’s Leadership Academy will continue with courses this fall geared towards general leadership skills. Register for September’s virtual offering of An Introduction to 21st Century Leadership or October’s in-person offering, Advanced 21st Century Leadership. Both courses are developed and taught by Gerry Ibay, MHA, JD and Halley Reeves, MPH, MCP, both of The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
The introductory course explores foundational principles of leadership as well as their effective application in the context of the practice of health administration education. Topics include emotional intelligence, effective communication, difficult conversations, and teamwork. Faculty should expect to learn more about how they themselves approach learning as well as how they connect with others in their learning journey.
The advanced course – open to those who have taken the introductory course or who have already mastered foundational leadership skills through experience – explores advanced principles of leadership, including a deeper dive into emotional intelligence, effective communication, difficult conversations, and teamwork, as well as the additional topics of talent management and fostering inclusive environments.
