We are pleased to welcome two new faculty members the Department of Health Services Administration including Abdulaziz (Aziz) Ahmed, PhD, and Geoffrey Silvera, PhD.
Dr. Ahmed, who previously worked as Assistant Professor at the Business Department at the University of Minnesota Crookston and received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the State University of New York at Binghamton. His research focuses on the applications of novel optimization and machine learning techniques in improving complex systems in healthcare.

Dr. Silvera is a management scholar that is primarily focused on the influence of executive decision-makers on end-user outcomes. His work centers on the ability of hospital executive decision-makers to positively influence care quality, patient experience, and patient safety and his work has centered on the institutionalization of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in local government administrations. He previously served on the faculty at Auburn University and received his doctorate in Health Policy and Administration at the Pennsylvania State University. He serves on the editorial board of HCMR (Health Care Management Review) and as the Associate Editor of PXJ (Patient Experience Journal).

In addition, Dr. Katherine Meese, Assistant Professor and Program Director for the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership, begins her role as the Director of the Center for Healthcare Management and Leadership, where she will oversee the National Symposium for Healthcare Leadership and other continuing education initiatives.
