AUPHA Announces Three New Sponsored Teaching Excellence Awards

AUPHA is pleased to announce three new Teaching Excellence Awards. These awards will recognize faculty from AUPHA member programs who have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments at the undergraduate, masters, or doctoral level. The Awards seek to honor, annually, AUPHA faculty across Faculty Forums who demonstrate teaching excellence within various disciplines that inspire and advance other faculty within AUPHA and beyond. Established in 2021, the first three Teaching Excellence Awards will focus on the following areas:

Teaching Excellence Award for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Social Justice
This award, established by the recently formed “Better Together” coalition, is sponsored by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE); the American Hospital Association’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE); the National Association of Healthcare Services Executives (NAHSE); the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE); and AUPHA. The Award will recognize faculty who will ensure that future leaders in healthcare administration receive an early foundation toward creating a more inclusive, healthier, and equitable future for all those they serve.

Teaching Excellence Award for Healthcare Management and Leadership
This award, established by AUPHA and sponsored by ACHE, will recognize the outstanding faculty who inspire and equip future leaders to navigate the challenges ahead.

Teaching Excellence Award for Health Policy
This award, established by AUPHA and sponsored by AHA, will recognize the outstanding faculty who champion health policy that improves quality and patient safety, advocates for hospitals’ roles in community health, and promotes the health professions workforce.

Information on the process for nomination and selection will be available in late January of 2022. The awards will be announced at the 2022 Annual Meeting, scheduled to be held in Salt Lake City June 7th – 9th.
