Edmund L. (Ned) Lafer, M.D., MBA

FACHE, FACPE, CPE, Six Sigma Black Belt

Dr. Lafer grew up on Long Island, N.Y. He completed his B.A at Haverford College, and medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his medical residency at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Lafer has served as a teaching attending, practicing internist, and medical director for both an urban academic medical center and a managed care organization. After earning his MBA from Drexel University, Dr. Lafer left clinical practice. He served as senior medical director for Executive Health Resources where he gained his utilization review expertise. He then worked as medical director of Utilization Review and Quality at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. His expertise includes utilization review, performance and quality improvement, Medicare Reviews, Readmissions and Transitions of Care, and Value Based Purchasing. In service to ACHE, Dr. Lafer has served as president of the Health Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley, and is a past Governor of the Board of ACHE. He has completed a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education and a Teaching Certificate in Online Education from Temple University. Currently Dr. Lafer is an assistant professor of practice and assistant program director of the healthcare management section of Temple University's Fox School of Business.
