Bio

Edmund L. (Ned) Lafer, M.D., MBA

FACHE, FACPE, CPE, Six Sigma Black Belt

Dr. Lafer grew up on Long Island, N.Y. He completed his B.A at Haverford College, and medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his medical residency at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Lafer has served as a teaching attending, practicing internist, and medical director for both an urban academic medical center and a managed care organization. After earning his MBA from Drexel University, Dr. Lafer left clinical practice. He served as senior medical director for Executive Health Resources where he gained his utilization review expertise. He then worked as medical director of Utilization Review and Quality at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Currently he works as a medical director for Health Partners Plans, a managed care organization in Philadelphia. His expertise includes utilization review, performance and quality improvement, Medicare Reviews, Readmissions and Transitions of Care, and Value Based Purchasing. In service to ACHE, Dr. Lafer has served as president of the Health Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley, and is a past Governor on the Board of ACHE.
He is currently transitioning into Teaching in Higher Education. He has completed a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education and a Teaching Certificate in Online Education from Temple University and currently teaches at the Undergraduate and Graduate programs for Temple's Fox School of Business.
