Miami Children's Hospital
Founded in 1950, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital® – part of Miami Children’s Health System – is South Florida’s only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children, with more than 650 attending physicians and over 130 pediatric sub-specialists. The 289-bed hospital is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine and has more pediatric programs ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report than any other hospital in Florida.
Nicklaus Children’s is also home to the largest pediatric teaching program in the southeastern United States and has been designated an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet facility, the nursing profession’s most prestigious institutional honor.
The group will be meeting with Dr. Narendra Kini, President & CEO of Miami Children's Hospital, for a welcome and introduction, and then will tour the facility.
Catholic Health Services' - - St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital
Catholic Health Services, a ministry of the Archdiocese of Miami is the largest post-acute provider in the southeast United States. They provide a full continuum of healthcare and social services to the southeast Florida community and serve more than 6,500 people on a daily basis with over 7,500 new patients per year and operate 30+ facilities in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
The tour is at one of CHS's top facilities, St. Catherine's West Rehabilitation Hospital, which is a 40-bed state-of-the-art medical facility designed for patients who can benefit from intensive rehabilitation in an interdisciplinary hospital setting. Designed and constructed with comfort in mind, St. Catherine's West Rehab Hospital houses the latest medical technology and equipment necessary to treat every patient to his or her highest level of function and independence. St. Catherine’s West's specialized rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of individuals who have a broad range of acute or chronic illnesses that cause temporary or permanent disability. Our programs combine medical care with rehabilitation services to help re-establish the functional, physical, cognitive and behavioral skills required to live as independently as possible.
This site visit will include talking with Mr. Joseph Catania, President & CEO of Catholic Health Services, and will conclude with a tour of the facility.
Jackson Memorial Hospital
Two points of pride for Jackson Health System, the third-largest safety net hospital system in the nation, is its Ryder Trauma Center and its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Holtz Children's Hospital.
Ryder is the only adult and pediatric Level 1 trauma center in Miami-Dade County and the only trauma center in the nation chosen by the U.S. Army for military surgical training. Holtz Children' Hospital has the largest Level III NICU in Florida and boasts some of the best survival rates and successful outcomes in the country.
This site visit will start off with a welcome and introduction by Mr. Matthew Pinzur, Associate Vice President of Communications & Outreach at Jackson Health System, followed by a tour of the Ryder Trauma Center as well as the Holtz Chidlren's Hospital NICU.
